USF Sarasota Manatee is currently seeking a chief student services/affairs officer
for our growing regional campus. This position will oversee functions that promote
student learning; encourage intellectual, social, and personal development; and
advocate for policies and programs that empower students to reach their personal,
educational, and professional goals. The Dean of Student Services' primary
responsibilities include the fiscal oversight of the unit budget; administration and
accountability for all student services activities and programs; assurance of compliance
with all federal, state, and local laws and University policies and procedures; leadership
in planning and goal setting; and assessment of effectiveness of programs and staff.
Current functions include academic advising, admissions, alumni, career services,
disability services, enrollment management, financial aid, judicial affairs, marketing/
recruitment, orientation, registration, veterans affairs, and student government and
activities. Together, these areas are comprised of approximately 30 employees.
Future functions anticipated as USF Sarasota-Manatee becomes a four-year institution
(adds freshmen and sophomores) will include services for new freshmen, residence
life, and tutoring. As a member of Academic Council, the Dean of Students works
collaboratively with the academic deans, local community partners, and USF
System administrators.
USF Sarasota-Manatee is the location for this position. Anticipated start date is
July 2012, or earlier as negotiated.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in education, business, or a
relevant discipline from a regionally accredited institution. Seven years of leadership
experience in multiple student affairs functions.
PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a relevant discipline from a
regionally accredited institution. Ten years of progressive leadership experience
in admissions and enrollment management with demonstrated success at increasing
student enrollment. Leadership of student affairs at a higher education institution
of 5,000 or fewer students.
