Virginia Tech is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Director of the Center for
Student Engagement & Community Partnership.

The director of the Center for Student Engagement and Community Partnerships (CSECP) leads
he institutional effort to advance student engagement, community involvement, and experiential
learning while emphasizing the importance of connections with the larger community, including
international, with a primary goal of building collaborative learning partnerships that support and
strengthen the public good. The CSECP director networks with community agencies, organizations,
businesses, and nonprofit entities to establish mutually beneficial arrangements for students and
the community; advances strategies for integrating community-based learning into the undergraduate
and graduate experiences of students; and shares best practices.

The director oversees selection and supervision of professional, student, and volunteer staff, as
well as financial, administrative and reporting functions. Additional responsibilities include fostering
partnerships with education, government, and nonprofit and business organizations (including
AmeriCorps VISTA); working with deans and faculty colleagues to increase participation in
community-based learning and research; identifying emerging opportunities in economic and
community development; and raising and managing funds from multiple sources. The director
reports to the associate vice president for engagement.
